Established in 1921 Johnsons of Whixley is a well know and respected family-run business, so, as you can imagine a re-brand of their identity was a significant decision for them and one full of anxiety as they had many longstanding customers across the UK and Europe, and were very keen not to alienate them. The new identity was to be used across an extensive range of applications so this needed to be considered from the outset.
With a brief to modernise their logo, while keeping their identity intact as to not alienate their current and very large client base, as you can see we took our inspiration from their existing identity.
“We are delighted with the new image Rebus created for us, and have received lots of great feedback from our clients.”
A decision was made very early on that the new identity should be a subtle shift from their existing logo. Keeping it clean and simple we wanted to keep the three trees but visualise them in a fresh, modern way. The same treatment was applied to the typography, modernising it, but keeping the essence intact. A secondary graphical element was created to work alongside the new Mark, three waving lines to represent the landscape on which they work.
