The “Spirit of Masham” Dry Yorkshire Gin is an Artisan Gin, created by Corks and Cases of Masham. The Gin is handcrafted and is produced in small batches in a copper alembic still using the London Dry Gin method.
When approach by Derek and Carole they were initially just wanting some help with their 4 main Gin Labels… the Original, Rhubarb, Classic and Malt Barley. Their current labels had been designed by Derek himself as the company was formed, but now felt they did not reflect the quality of the great product they were producing for themselves and others.
Their current labels were confused, crowded and lack any kind of personality. I wanted to develop an identity that reflected who they were and better represented Spirit of Masham. They did not want the new design to be too modern in its appearance as all their Gin’s are hand crafted using the traditional London Dry Gin method, something that was very important to them.
Small batch production in their Distillery in Masham in the Yorkshire Dales. “A true Yorkshire Dry Gin”, this wanted to come across in the look and feel.
“We wanted to completely update our four Hand Crafted London Dry Gins, but we wanted to keep it local and involve the great work done in Masham around saving our Swifts. Richard took our brief and outlined ideas and brought them to life; he exceeded our expectations in design and the timeframe we needed to work in. We are delighted with the results, and we will certainly be working with Richard in the future!”
Derek Harle, Managing Director Spirit of Masham
On returning to Masham every year, the majestic Swifts can be seen diving around the town square every summer evening. They, therefore, deserved a special place on the bottles, becoming an integral part of the new identity and label. The labels were also designed in a way that they could be easily transferred across all the different Gins and also new ones to come, along with other spirits currently in development… watch this space!
